Who's Fighting Bums?

A conversation that Sean and I had during the Saleta/McCall fight centered around the poor level of competition in the heavyweight division. Here's an old article I found, where the author went back and compared the records of the opponents over whom some of the current heavyweight contenders have triumphed.

Valuev, one of the "unknown quantities" that intrigues me, looks to have a pretty decent 40-ish and 0 record on paper. Of course, you have to remember that Valuev has been almost exclusively fighting in Europe, so don't forget that "tomato cans" in Europe aren't the same as the "tomato cans" here in God's country.

I expect that between both Klitshkos, Brewster, Byrd, Peter, Sam, Rahman and Ruiz there will be some worthwhile entertainment soon (hopefully painted in Ruiz's blood).

Heeeeere's Sean

Hey guys, we have a new member, my ole buddy Sean. He and I have known each other for years, and we used to work out together, as part of an almost-totally un-gay boxing club. Unlike the rest of us, he was actually once a competitive boxer.

Welcome, Sean!

No Foul Pole

I can't believe that Golota had to back out of the Saleta fight because of a cut. Damn. And they have Saleta fight Oliver McCall? hmmmmmm.

UPDATE!!!

McCall beat the "Polish Pretty-Boy" in a fourth round TKO by pummelling. I had figured that Saleta would lose to Golota, but I had no idea what to expect from McCall, who looked quite good. I actually fell asleep during the yawn-fest that was the Rahman-Barrett fight, but it sounds like it was a 12-round yawn-fest won by Rahman.

Mayorga looked good beating the Eye-talian guy, and Gonzalez played the role of aged fighter past his prime in his loss to Collazzo.

I'm glad that I didn't pay this PPV bill, but watched it on "Bum-Vision" instead.

The Return of the Brothers K

Here's a good article from Borges about the return of the brothers Klitschko. He makes a damn good point about why the heavyweight division is starting to seem a bit more exciting again....Money.

I'm planning to watch the Rahman fight, and you'd better believe I'll be watching on September 24th when Peter and Little K scrap.

This I Want To See

It sounds like "Glass Wladmir" is going to give his chin a really tough test. It sounds like he's going to fight Samuel "the Nigerian Nightmare" Peter, who is a devastating puncher, though not much of a boxer.

I WILL SEE THIS!

I'll probably watch the Rahman-Barrett fight next weekend, too.

Comments, guys?
